Event Description
As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more integrated into daily life, it brings both opportunities and challenges—especially in how Black identity is represented and shaped online. This workshop delves into the impact of digital technology, AI-driven data collection, and algorithmic biases that reinforce stereotypes and systemic discrimination.
Objective
Participants will critically examine how AI, social media, and digital algorithms influence public perceptions of Black identity and contribute to modern digital discrimination. Through intergenerational dialogue, attendees will explore ways to challenge biases and use technology for cultural empowerment.
What to Expect
🔹 Film Analysis: Screening and discussion of Coded Bias, a documentary that reveals racial and gender bias in AI systems.
🔹 Panel Discussions: Youth and elders share insights on historical and modern manifestations of racism in digital spaces.
🔹 Social Media & AI Trends: Analyzing real-world examples of algorithmic bias in online platforms.
🔹 Interactive Brainstorming: Collaborating on solutions to leverage technology for positive cultural representation and empowerment.
🔹 Certificate of Completion: Participants will receive official recognition for their engagement and learning.
